The results everyone has been waiting for are posted on the Results page – all event and season standings are posted.
There are sometimes questions about why an event’s posted results are different from the event boards. This is because MWVTA uses computer results for event results posted on the web page and for determining season standings. As much as we do our best to make sure the event boards are correct, we’re still human and mistakes happen. Sometimes a card is added wrong, a card may have a missed punch that wasn’t caught at the event (yes, it happens with group checking), a card is posted incorrectly (instead of points/cleans it get posted as cleans/points), or the total of all 3 loops may have been added wrong. Once in awhile a score is posted under the wrong person – similar names or family members competing in the same class are the usual culprits for this.
While riders are encouraged to review their cards, make sure the correct number of sections are punched and they know their score before cards are turned in, a rider can always ask to see their cards if they believe their posted score should be something different.
Each card is tallied in a spreadsheet (Excel) and the result compared to what is on the event board, and if they don’t match the reason is determined and fixed (card or board) before the score is ‘final’. MWVTA began using this system years ago as it was decided it would be the fairest way to make sure everyone’s score was correct. Having fun at the event is primary but most riders are still very competitive and want their scores to be right.
See you next season!
