Central Arizona Trials (CAT) is looking for observers for the 2017 Wagner Cup – the US round of the 2017 World Outdoor Trials Championship series. This is a great opportunity to see the best riders in the world.
Observers will receive free admission to the event for the weekend, VIP parking, free breakfast, lunch & snacks on the day(s) you observe, and a free World Round T-shirt.
The two-day event requires a minimum of 75 observers per day, 150 for the weekend. Each section needs 5 people: Head Observer, Puncher/Record Scores and 3 section observers. Please email or call Carolyn Saum if you can help out for one day or both days. Her phone is (02) 920-9504, email is carolyn@ascconsulting.net.
Some Wagner Cup facts:
- The Wagner Cup is named for Wiltz Wagner, a founder of the North American Trials Council (NATC). Wiltz was given this honor in 1975 with the first Outdoor World Championship event to come to America under the guidance of NATC/AMA.
- US rider Bernie Schreiber won the Wagner Cup in 1978 (and in 1979 became the only American to date to win the Outdoor World Series title).
- For many of the early years of the Wagner Cup, the event was held in conjunction with the NATC Championship series.
As you can see, while the riders today perform amazing feats on modern trials bikes – there is a link to the past – a vintage history.
Hope to see you there!
